Spend time enjoying Dromoland Castle’s magnificent estate and the lands that noble families once called home. Pathways criss-cross the demesne, meandering through woodlands, around the lake and beyond the fairways.

A woodland stroll will reveal hidden secrets, from woodland creatures to foxes and deer, hares, rabbits and pheasants to The Hermit’s Grotto and the mysterious Temple of Mercury.

Marvel at the picture-perfect Lily Pond, the bug hotel (a favourite with children!), our beautiful Walled Gardens and the impressive Yew Tree gallery that dates back to 1740.

Walk, jog or cycle, but, whatever you do, don’t forget to row out into the middle of Dromoland Lough in one of our complimentary rowing boats.   The views of the Castle are simply perfect from here.

A castle this grand deserves enchanting gardens and ours don’t disappoint. Based on designs by Andre Le Notre, who planned the Gardens at Versailles, you’ll find unexpected features at every turn, from the picture-perfect lily pond and sundial, to our beautiful walled garden and dramatic yew tree gallery that dates back to 1740. But wait until you discover the estate’s Temple of Mercury, a hilltop memorial that holds a fascinating secret…
